Pre-heating the Oven…

Let's get this baby sizzlin'!

Alright people,

Here’s the situation. My girlfriend and I are supposed to have our own cooking show. It’s science.

Ever seen “Down Home with the Neeley’s”? Their on-screen chemistry is still playing with vinegar and baking soda, what you get when you visit The Half Baked Cooking Blog will be like “Bill Nye the Science Guy” style on-screen chemistry, educational, yet mind blowing. Strap in, and don’t forget your goggles.

So a little bit about the purpose of this blog:

  1. My wonderful girlfriend, Nicole, doesn’t know I’ve created this blog yet, although we have discussed it a little bit. If the blog no longer exists after Christmas morning when I plan on unveiling it, then that means she didn’t like my present. Fingers crossed.
  2. Neither of us have any professional cooking experience. I worked in a function hall kitchen for a few years but besides knowing how to make 25 pans of dinner rolls at once, what you see is what you get.
  3. Hopefully we will be creating video posts with us making some of our favorite recipes, and we will also be photographing some of our creations to show you how the final products come out.
  4. We love the Food Network. Watching Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis is fun and great for getting new ideas, but they are always cooking with complex, expensive ingredients. What we like to do is simplify those recipes, removing expensive ingredients and substituting them for more practical and just as flavorful ingredients.
  5. Soy sauce and Frank’s Hot Sauce can be good on just about everything. If you can’t handle that, don’t call yourself a fan of “The Half Baked Cooking Blog”. It’s cool, we didn’t like you anyways.

This is real delicious food for real people. We’ll come up with plenty of half-baked ideas,  you just try and keep up.

Over and out,

Lyle
